The Entropic Theory of Consciousness (ETC)
As of March 2025, still very much a work-in-progress.
The Entropic Theory of Consciousness (ETC) is a theory of consciousness by Archy Will He from a longevity perspective, with the primary focus on "computing over the consciousness unto a lower entropy state".
ETC is based on the following 3 hypotheses:
- First Hypothesis: (Proto-)consciousness arises due to a fundamental property of the universe that gives rise to what living organisms experience as space-time. Space-time (as formulated in General Relativity) is an emergent phenomenon in the Amplituhedron space that occurs when some underlying topology is being "parsed-and-interpreted" by some cluster of proto-consciousness (and thus the experience of life).
A mathematical and computational understanding of (proto-)consciousness (and its tendency for Kolmogorov complexity reduction) holds the key to “gravitize” quantum mechanics, which will open the door for the investigation of its apparent side-effects that preverse/reverse entropy through some kind of orchestration.
- Second Hypothesis: With the right mindfulness and meditation practices, a human can set forth on the path to the "state of being" described by Shakyamuni as sa-upādisesa-nibbānadhātu (or known in Sufism as fanāʾ-baqāʾ). The Noble Eightfold Path (or any similiar way of life that fosters virtues, truth, and authenticity) is the optimal path for systemic entropy reduction within a living organism. Under the right biochemical conditions, such entropy reduction path will lead to an indefinitely long and healthy life. An empirical understanding of the entropy-preserving mechanism in proto-consciousness will bring us closer to understanding the mechanism of life.
The general struggle for existence of animate beings is not a struggle for raw materials – these, for organisms, are air, water and soil, all abundantly available – nor for energy which exists in plenty in any body in the form of heat, but a struggle for [negative] entropy, which becomes available through the transition of energy from the hot sun to the cold earth.
-- Ludwig Boltzmann, 1875
- Third Hypothesis: It is in loving-kindness and pure compassion (for the self and for all sentient beings) that a human on the Noble Eightfold Path (or any similiar way of life that fosters virtues, truth, and authenticity) can develop, via mindfulness and meditation practices, the ability to slow down biological aging, under a strict intermittent fasting + dieting framework (such as that of ketogenic, etc), and in combination with training programmes that utilize entheogens like cannabis to practice the conscious regulation of the endocannabinoid system, (as well as caapi, etc).
Insights into understanding the consciousness-induced physiological manifestion of loving-kindness and pure compassion will open the door to a deeper understanding of how to activate lineage reprogramming within humans for gene therapy, regenerative medicine, etc, and can be done in conjunction with advanced meditation practices (e.g. rūpa jhānas, dream yoga) to maximize effectiveness.
